Beloved for his vivid palette and textural depictions of French Life, Pierre Bonnard’s observations of the ‘theatre of the everyday’ is imagined with the immersive exhibition scenography by award-winning architect and designer, India Mahdavi.

Described by The New Yorker as a ‘possessor of perfect chromatic pitch’, Mahdavi captures Bonnard’s distinct use of iridescent colour and fleeting moments of domestic intimacy.

NGV Curator Meg Slater and NGV Head of Design Ingrid Rhule lead audiences on a tour through the exhibition, uncovering the ways Mahdavi has used elements of design to bring the artist’s paintings to life.
