Drop by the Great Hall to create a lei, a traditional garland worn around the neck as a symbol of love, friendship and honour. In this activity, led by Tongan artist Veisinia Tonga, create a lei using a combination of natural, found and recycled materials.
This workshop uses small materials which may be a choking hazard for small children. Participation is recommended for ages 3 years and above.
About the artist
Veisinia Tonga is a Tongan Kakala artist and storyteller based in Melbourne. Her artwork spans multiple disciplines including weaving, sculpture, floristry and photography. She has created installations for RISING and Immigration Museum and has led workshops at State Library Victoria
