Join speculative architect Liam Young as he delves into the world-building, science and design speculation which underpins the exhibition of Young’s now internationally acclaimed films Planet City and The Great Endeavour, currently on display at The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia until 11 February. Following Liam Young’s presentation the artist will be joined by NGV Senior Curator Ewan McEoin for a Q&A.

The Great Endeavor depicts the construction of a global system of greenhouse gas extraction to reverse climate change, while Planet City proposes a new city for the whole human population as a radical responses to the climate emergency.

About the Speakers:
Liam Young is a speculative architect and director. He is cofounder of Tomorrows Thoughts Today, an urban futures think tank, exploring the local and global implication of new technologies and Unknown Fields, a nomadic research studio that travels on expeditions to chronicle these emerging conditions as they occur on the ground. His worldbuilding for the film and television industries has been acclaimed in both mainstream and architectural media, including the BBC, NBC, Wired, Guardian, Time Magazine and New Scientist.

Ewan McEoin is the Senior Curator of Contemporary Art, Design and Architecture at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV).
