Angela Hesson shares the story of Agnes Goodsir’s lifelong relationship with her confidante, lover and muse Rachel Dunn, the model for Goodsir’s painting, The letter, and Goodsir’s partner of almost three decades. Unlike many queer artists of her generation who offered suggestions and ciphers, Agnes Goodsir put her romantic life in plain sight.
