How do designers create an exhibition for children and families?

Australian design studio Daniel Emma’s exhibition, Up Down and All Around: Daniel Emma for Kids, opens at NGV International on 3 June and features a set of design challenges and hands-on activities.

Celebrate the opening and drop by to hear from the two designers, Daniel To and Emma Aiston, as they discuss their design practice, their approach to this design challenge and join them on a tour of the exhibition with Kate Ryan, Curator of Children’s Program’s at the NGV.

About Daniel Emma

Industrial designers, Daniel To and Emma Aiston established design studio Daniel Emma in 2008, enabling them to express their thoughts and ideas through their practice. Working collaboratively, their projects range from objects and furniture to installations and exhibitions. They design products for leading brands including Hay, Areaware and Petite Friture as well as produce their own range of furniture and small objects. They look to create the unexpected from simple objects using simple forms, drawing influence and insight from the simplest of daily activities and rituals, often striving to create pieces that make everyday enjoyable. They have exhibited widely both nationally and internationally and featured in Melbourne Design Week, and the Rigg Design Prize. Their works are represented in the NGV Collection.
