Members and guests can enjoy exclusive access to Rembrandt: True to life at an exclusive after-hours viewing.
The National Gallery of Victoria holds the most important Rembrandt collection in the Southern Hemisphere and is presenting a major exhibition devoted to the seventeenth-century Dutch master.
Rembrandt: True to life presents more than 100 etchings, alongside paintings and drawings from the NGV Collection and important loans from the Rijksmuseum, the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, the Louvre Museum, the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, and the Teylers Museum in Haarlem. The works will be displayed in thematic groups of self-portraits and portraits, religious motifs, landscapes, nudes, and genre scenes, to give insight into the scope of Rembrandt’s oeuvre.
The exhibition also includes a recreation of Rembrandt’s Cabinet of curiosities. Filled with prints and drawings, as well as artefacts and rare natural objects from Europe and Asia, this collection was a status symbol and an important source of inspiration for the artist.
Please note that this will be combined with a viewing of Pierre Bonnard: Designed by India Mahdavi on the same evening. To purchase a ticket to view Bonnard click here.
