The National Gallery of Victoria’s inaugural exhibition at the St Kilda Road building in 1968 was The Field, the first comprehensive display of colour field painting and abstract sculpture in Australia. This week we look closely at a group of works included in this landmark exhibition which were recently gifted to the NGV by donor Michael Machin and family, and discover the significance of The Field in Australian art history.
This program will be presented online.
