NGV FRIDAY NIGHTS: ALEXANDER McQUEEN

Start your weekend with a visit to NGV Friday Nights and the groundbreaking exhibition, Alexander McQueen: Mind, Mythos, Muse. NGV’s Great Hall and Garden are transformed with live-music and pop-up bars inspired by ‘90s London and the innovation, romance and theatricality of McQueen’s work. See Melbourne’s best DJs take residence in the 2022 Architecture Commission: Temple of Boom as well as a line-up of unmissable bands performing in the Great Hall, alongside rare screenings of some of McQueen’s most iconic runway collections. Music sounds better on a Friday night.

PERFORMANCES

NIKODIMOS & HIS ORCHESTRA
Great Hall
8–9pm

Nikodimos is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer and song-writer from Naarm (Melbourne). He lives and breathes music — whether it is for his own projects, collaborating with others or simply picking up an instrument — Nikodimos’ technicoloured essence is unmistakable the moment he touches sound. Nikodimos has written an original score for his performance at NGV Friday Nights, featuring an 11-piece orchestra. The piece has been designed specifically for the Great Hall, and takes inspiration from 3rd Stream and spiritual jazz music.

VINCENT SOLE
2022 NGV Architecture Commission: Temple of Boom, Grollo Equiset Garden
6–8pm
9–10pm

Independent and multidisciplinary artist, Vincent Sole spans his creative work among a spectrum of music production, sing-songwriting, DJing, events and graphic design. Through live sampling and vocals, Sole explores the electronic realms of euro-dance, electro-dub, DnB and minimal-tech. The themes of his work spin an atmosphere of cathartic melodies and dark beats.
