Carl Villis
Carl Villis is the Senior Conservator of Paintings, NGV and has more than thirty years of experience in painting conservation in Australia, Italy and the United States. He has long held a special interest in Italian paintings and has carried out major conservation treatments on NGV paintings by Titian, Tintoretto, Correggio, Tiepolo and Bellotto. He has published studies on several of those artists and was also responsible for the research which led to the identification of the NGV’s sixteenth-century Northern Italian portrait of Lucrezia Borgia.
