First Nations Art Series
Supporting the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) and their commitment to promoting First Nations art, culture and perspectives, this free online program is designed to encourage young children’s learning and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
Developed for use either in the classroom or at home, the online program introduces children to Aboriginal art and culture through engaging, age-appropriate content created especially for them.
Across a twenty-minute program, children learn about the artworks, listen to stories written by First Nations authors, and express their ideas through interactive activities.
Groups are welcome to attend. Participation in the program’s chat function is encouraged. Attendees’ microphones and cameras will be turned off.
Under 5s | Let’s Play Footy!
It’s footy time and we are celebrating by looking at a selection of Hermannsburg pots and the game of footy. The Hermannsburg Potters are Arrernte artists living and working near Mparntwe/Alice Springs. They have created twenty terracotta pots celebrating AFL’s best and fairest Indigenous players. In this session learn about the artists and their love of footy, enjoy storytime, and draw your own pot at home or in the classroom.
