As the NGV’s inaugural Sustainability Partner, ACCIONA is working closely with the NGV to improve the sustainability performance of building and collection operations.

ACCIONA is a global leader in providing innovative infrastructure solutions and renewable energy projects. The company is leading the transition towards a low-carbon economy, leveraging technical excellence and innovation to design a better planet.

The sustainability partnership between NGV and ACCIONA first commenced for the 2022 Melbourne Winter Masterpieces®: The Picasso Century and the NGV is proud to be applying learnings from this exhibition to adopt more sustainable practices in day-to-day operations.

Through the partnership, ACCIONA have also presented a range of important talks and events, as well as supporting several key initiatives connected to the NGV.

ACCIONA is proud to be the Sustainability Partner of Pierre Bonnard: Designed by India Mahdavi. ACCIONA will complete a life-cycle assessment of the exhibition to assess the performance improvement and gather further insights and learnings which can be applied when planning future exhibitions.

As part of Melbourne Design week 2023, ACCIONA presented a number of highlight talks and events that engaged thought-leaders from key organisations to discuss topics ranging from social licence through to solar powered cars and renewable energy.

 SOCIAL LICENCE: BUILDING COMMUNITY CONSENSUS

This panel discussion, presented by the NGV and ACCIONA highlighted the importance of community engagement in the design and development of cultural precincts and public infrastructure. It included panellists from ACCIONA, Victorian Pride Centre and Melbourne Arts Precinct Corporation (MAP Co).

 CHANGING GEARS: DRIVING THE TRANSITION TO RENEWABLE ENERGY IN AUSTRALIA, FROM SOLAR CARS TO UTILITY-SCALE PROJECTS

Presented by ACCIONA Energia and Deakin University, this expert panel discussed the changing energy landscape and the critical need to transition to renewables. The ASCEND Solar Car was also on display at Federation Square for the duration of Design Week for audiences to interact with and speak with members of the team that worked on the build and design of the vehicle.
