FOURTH PRIZE ARTWORK BY MARIANNE PERROTT HAY

Value $3,750

In this three-dimensional work, Trees of Hope, by Melbourne artist Marianne Perrott Hay (b. 1954, Melbourne), an ethereal scene has been etched onto a transparent acrylic surface and illuminated using LED adjustable colour-wheel lights. Perrott Hay’s Scottish heritage and an interest in Celtic mythology informed her choice of silver birch trees as the main subject. They symbolize birth, stability, protection, renewal, purification and structure. Using adjustable lights, the scene’s colour can be easily selected, reminding us of the ever-changing hues of the natural world.
