Every year, the NGV Women’s Association Seminar focuses on a collection area of the NGV. In 2019, the program features a special guest appearance with one of the world’s most exciting contemporary artists, Cai Guo-Qiang. In a Q&A with the audience, Cai will reveal why and how he creates his explosive performance art, gunpowder paintings and installations.

Art experts include Professor Tonia Eckfeld, University of Melbourne, one of the first Western women allowed entry to the excavation site of the terracotta warriors in China’s ancient Xi’an, Shaanxi province; and senior curators from the NGV.
