NGVWA Garden Day 2026

Thu 22 Oct, 10am–4pm

You are warmly invited to attend one of the most beloved events on Melbourne’s annual social calendar, the NGVWA Garden Day. Join us for a rare opportunity to step inside six of Toorak and Armadale’s most beautiful private gardens, open for one day only.

This year’s gardens include a meandering English-style design originally by Edna Walling, tended for more than thirty years by the owner and gardener Donna Somerville; a sweeping sculpture-filled garden that unfolds across three distinct levels; a garden centred around a magnificent Magnolia grandiflora; a grand 19th-century estate with a new hidden garden by Paul Bangay; a restrained, low-maintenance garden and a thoughtful contemporary design by Myles Baldwin.

A floral demonstration will be led by celebrated florist, Cherrie Miriklis of Flowers Vasette. Garden guides, including experts from Botanica World Discoveries, will be on hand throughout the day to answer questions. The Garden Day stall will offer artisanal baked goods, custom floral linens, potted plants, seasonal blooms and garden-themed books from Thames & Hudson and others, alongside a raffle with a selection of coveted prizes.

Information with the street addresses of all gardens, detailed Garden Notes and general advice regarding public transport and local amenities will be emailed to ticket holders on Tuesday 22 October.

The NGVWA is a group of volunteers who fundraise through events to support the NGV Collection.
