Art of Emotion: Calm

The undulating waves of the ocean have long been a place to seek calm, solace and respite from the demands of daily life.

NGV curator Judith Ryan AM and Stacie Piper, Yalingwa First Nations Curator at TarraWarra Museum of Art respond to Samantha Hobson’s monumental work Calm night…down at the beach, which celebrates the natural splendour of Cape York and flaunts Hobson’s adventurous pictorial method akin to action painting.
