NGV curator Dr Angela Hesson introduces Iso (Isobel) Rae’s Young girl, Étaples, recently acquired for the NGV Collection.
Painted in the popular artist destination of Étaples in Northern France, this rare, large-scale oil painting shows Rae working in a characteristically impressionist manner as she captures a moment from everyday life – a young girl, flower in hand, delighting in the colour and warmth of the natural scene.
