Probably the original altarpiece from the High Altar at the Church of San Lorenzo in Lucina, Rome, prior to 1675; with [Tito] Gagliardi (dealer), Florence, 1836; from whom purchased by Count Anatole Nikolaievich Demidov (1813–70), 1st Prince of San Donato (created 1840), 1836; Demidov Collection, Villa San Donato, Florence, and St Petersburg, Russia(?), 1836–70; included in Collections de San Donato, troisième vente : tableaux anciens des écoles espagnole, flamande, italienne et allemande et marbres (third Demidov sale), Charles Pillet & Francis Petit, Paris 3-4 March 1870, no. 199 (sold for 4000 Fr.); from where purchased by J.
