Half-length portrait of a seated man, facing to the left and holding a book in his left hand. His hair is parted on his left. He wears a black neck cloth and a frock coat (originally with sloping shoulders) with wide lapels, and a black waistcoat. The work is signed in pencil l.c. (on the book) T.G. Wainewright.
