Physical description
The corset style bodice in cream satin has full length sleeves. The shoulders are printed in gold and rust brown with a repeat Orb design (Westwood's logo) The centre front is printed with a colour photographic reproduction of a detail of the painting 'Shepherd watching a sleeping shepherdess' 1743-45 by Francois Boucher (1703-1770) from the Wallace collection, London. The bodice is stiffened by a series of plastic bones encased in the lining, with 10 rows in the front and six at the back, simulating the construction of a 17th century bodice. The front decorative panel is V shaped and extends below the waist, held in place by the boning like an original 18th century stomacher. The bodice fastens down the centre back with a zipper.
