Physical description
This shield is painted with designs associated with the possum dreaming. The central roundel indicates an important possum dreaming place and the arc shapes indicate Tjakamarra and Tjupurrula custodians of this Dreaming. The tracks of the possum ancestor are also represented. The configuration of white dots in the ground with red ochre symbols is characteristic of men's ritual shields.
