Physical description
Violet Dulieu is a sophisticated portrait of the dealer taken in a commerical studio. Dulieu has been photographed in flatteringly diffuse light (probably with filers over the lens) and the photographer has carefully arranged his or her lights to give the image a 'stagey' appearence. This is a quite striking and accomplished photograph which suggests that the photographer was well aware of Hollywood style conventions of portraiture.
