About this work
Since the rise of the ‘It bag’, accessories have become attainable entry points into luxury fashion. A combination of playful seasonal designs and reinvented core styles has instigated a competitive collector’s market. Designed in 1999, John Galliano’s Saddle bag made its debut in Dior’s spring–summer 2000 collection. Inspired by equestrian gear, the bag quickly became a coveted accessory of the early 2000s. The house reintroduced the Saddle bag in 2018, updating its design to align with the contemporary fashion zeitgeist.
