Members Film Club is an opportunity for film enthusiasts and casual moviegoers alike to come together, discuss and consider art through the lens of film. Each film is chosen to complement artworks on display at the NGV and will be shown at the Gallery, in a free film screening, prior to the Film Club.
In April, join the discussion of Michelangelo Antonioni’s counter-culture classic, Blow Up (1966), tying in with the NGV Festival of Photography. When a successful London fashion photographer unwittingly captures a suspicious incident on film, he blows up the negatives in order to piece together the puzzle. Starring David Hemmings and Vanessa Redgrave, Antonioni’s first English language film changed the cultural landscape and is widely acknowledged as a masterpiece. Catch the Film Screening in the Clemenger Auditorium at 2pm and then join film buff Ben Buckingham for a discussion in the Members Lounge over popcorn and drinks.
