Melbourne 1956 brings together approximately forty works from the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Victoria in 1956 in Melbourne. A diverse and eclectic range of material – including paintings, prints and drawings, sculpture, decorative arts, photography, fashion and textiles – explore notions of cultural identity that defined the multi-cultural society of Melbourne.
