About this work

This work is strong in cultural memory of Country where the artist grew up during the pujiman days of living nomadically, as she explains:

Yulpu is my mother and father’s Country; it’s warla [salt lake] Country. There is big kapi [water] here: it is spring water. The jila [snakes] here are quiet, we don’t need to sing out as we approach their home. I paint this to tell the story. When I paint, it takes me back to my ngurra [home]: I can take everyone to my Country when I paint.
