About this work
This door was originally part of the outdoor mural painted by Keith Haring on the wall of the then Collingwood Technical College in Melbourne during his one and only visit to Australia in 1984. Featuring the artist’s signature and emblazoned with his iconic image of a ‘radiant baby’, it was illegally removed from the mural in 1990, the same year as the artist’s death from AIDS-related complications at thirty-one years old. A replica door based on the original was created as part of a larger project to conserve the mural in 2014.
