About this work

During Tom Ford’s tenure as Gucci’s creative director, his collections and advertising campaigns were sexually charged and intentionally provocative, inspired by the glamour and decadence of New York’s Studio 54 nightclub. With its plunging neckline and strategic cut-outs, this dress is representative of Ford’s sensuous minimalism. It also recalls the jersey dresses produced by celebrated American designer Roy Halston in the 1970s.
