About this work

This bottle displays the rustic and practical aesthetic of piecesproduced at local, or non-imperial, Joseon dynasty–era kilnsfor everyday use. The firing process has resulted in a mottledgreenish surface with speckled pockmarks, appealing to anappreciation of beauty found within imperfection. The bottle’sbold design, with eight cut sides, allowed sturdy and practicalpacking for transportation.
