About this work

This bottle displays the rustic and practical aesthetic of pieces produced at local, or non-imperial, Joseon dynasty–era kilns for everyday use. The firing process has resulted in a mottled greenish surface with speckled pockmarks, appealing to an appreciation of beauty found within imperfection. The bottle’s bold design, with eight cut sides, allowed sturdy and practical packing for transportation.
