About this work
This large silver hairpin with cloisonné features an enamel colour known as kingfisher blue, as well as two birds representing matrimonial peace and harmony. The pin would hold in place a long braided hairpiece wound in a circular manner at the back of the head. Such decorative hairpins were worn by Korean nobility with formal dress for weddings and ceremonies.
