Physical description
(a) Violet ribbed silk bodice lined with glazed cotton and eight encased stays. The bodice has lace ruffles at cuffs and two bands of black braid either side of centre front, at neckline and in two bands on sleeves. Vertical pleating down front of bodice and black rosette at centre. Long sleeves also have ruching over forearms. There is an internal pocket attached to the lining at proper right of bodice, just above bust height. (b) Violet ribbed silk skirt, lined with glazed cotton, falling into small train at rear. (c) Violet ribbed silk belt trimmed with violet satin, ribbon and black braid. Rosette at one end. Fastens with metal hooks and eyes.
