‘A museum is a space for joyful learning, for contemplation and wonder, and for connections with people and ideas.’
As public-facing entities, museums today face increasingly high expectations but amid all of these, it’s important to remember that at its heart, a museum is a civic space with a responsibility to welcome everybody.
Published by the International Audience Engagement (IAE) Network, New Principles for Audience Engagement in Museums: Forming Connections through Collaboration & Communication encourages fresh thinking about museum audience engagement. Framed around four broad areas, New Principles proposes a framework for developing, engaging and connecting with audiences in authentic, purposeful and innovative ways. Each of the principles are embedded in collaboration and communication: two essential components to any successful project or undertaking.
This is the third publication of the IAE Network.
