Discover how ideas and themes are presented in a major NGV exhibition. In this educator-led presentation for students of VCE Art Making and Exhibiting, analyse and discuss some of the curatorial considerations, exhibition design, and conservation methods involved in preparing and presenting French Impressionism from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Explore exhibition characteristics and themes, and strategies used to prepare and display key artworks in this blockbuster exhibition.

Self-guided entry into the exhibition will follow the interactive presentation.

Students will:

• Identity and discuss the curatorial considerations and thematic connections between artworks in French Impressionism from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
• Discuss and analyse the presentation of artworks in the exhibition
• Investigate, identify and evaluate the methods used and considerations involved in the presentation, conservation and care of specific artworks

Duration: 45 minutes plus self-guided time in the exhibition
