Enrich your student’s literacy skills with a visit to the Gallery. With an NGV Educator, students will explore and practice ways of reading and viewing works of art and design, find inspiration or seeds for creative writing and to expand their vocabulary. This program is designed to build students’ reading, writing, speaking and listening skills, with activities tailored to students’ year level.

Students will: 

  • Apply literacy skills including reading, writing, speaking and listening to analyse and interpret works of art as visual texts 
  • Develop and deepen their vocabulary to express feelings, preferences and ideas about works of art and design 
  • Experiment with literary devices to enhance creative writing 

Duration: 1 hour
Cost: $10.50 per student 

 

    We require four weeks notice for all bookings.

    Changes to your booking must be made in writing. Changes can be made up to 14 days prior to your visit. Invoices will be sent prior to the visit. Full program fees will be incurred for late cancellations or amendments.

    Please note: the National Gallery of Victoria has two locations. NGV International holds our Collection of works from around the world, and The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia is home to our Collection of Australian art. When submitting your booking request, please indicate which location you would like to visit.

    Study Focus

    Please provide details of any relevant themes and skills your students are learning about at school. While we cannot offer individually tailored programs, our museum educators will consider this information when selecting and discussing works of art during the program.

    We recommend you provide three date options for your program to avoid disappointment. We will do our best to accommodate your first preference, however due to high demand this may not always be possible.

    We do not take tentative bookings. Bookings are considered firm at time of booking. Any amendments, including changes to participant numbers, must be made by email at least 14 days prior to the program. Invoices will be sent prior to the visit. Full program fees will be incurred for late cancellations or amendments. Payment must be paid at least one week prior to the visit.
