Explore the playful side of making art these school holidays with artist Bundit Puangthong. Put your creative thinking caps on, grab some everyday art supplies and make art inspired by the NGV’s collection of shadow puppets.
This free online program is presented exclusively for children and families who participate in the Your NGV Arts Access program. Children are welcome to participate on their own or with the whole family.

About the artist: Bundit Puangthong
Thai artist Bundit Puangthong mixes his training in traditional Thai painting with his interest in graffiti and Pop art to create colourful, large-scale paintings which explore his cultural identity. In this workshop he will show you how to create a moving shadow puppet inspired by his family history in puppet making. Puangthong lives and works in Melbourne and has recently completed a large-scale mural as part of the Flash Fwd laneway project.

This program will be delivered online via Webex Events. You will be sent a link to the WebEx Event and connection instructions prior to the program taking place. For the best experience, everyone’s microphones and cameras will be turned off. We encourage you to join the discussion by sharing comments or asking questions via the comments section which will be read out during the program.
For this workshop you will need:
- A collection of cardboard boxes such as cereal, tissue or packing boxes
- Scissors
- String
- Tape or Blu Tack
- Coloured pencils or markers
- At least 3 chopsticks, bamboo skewers or icy pole sticks
- Split pins
