Each year, musicians from the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) are given the opportunity to curate immersive performances at NGV Australia responding to NGV exhibitions and collections. The only professional performance training institute of its kind, ANAM is dedicated to training exceptional young classical musicians from across Australia and New Zealand. Musicians are mentored by ANAM faculty Peter Neville as they explore new territory in this interdisciplinary collaboration.

Ciara Wrede (horn)
Ciara Wrede is a Melbourne-based horn player commencing her first year at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) in 2026.She completed a Bachelor of Music with Honours at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Ciara has performed with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO), Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (TSO), and was a member of the Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO). She is also extremely passionate about chamber music, particularly wind quintet repertoire.
Ami Humphreys (flute)
Ami Humphreys is a Sydney-born flutist in their first year at ANAM. Ami is a graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and completed an overseas exchange at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. In their final year of studies, Ami was Principal Flute of the AYO, which saw them touring across Australia and Europe.
Lily Tamir-Regev (clarinet)
Lily is a clarinettist from Melbourne/Naarm, undertaking her first year at ANAM in 2026,. Lily has performed with the MSO, TSO, AYO and toured with the University of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra to Singapore and Malaysia in 2023. She had a formative experience as Principal Clarinet at the National Forum of Music in Wrocław, Poland with the World Jewish Philharmonic, as well as Principal Clarinet in the Portillo Festival, Chile in 2026.
Shelby MacRae (bassoon)
Shelby is in her second year at ANAM, having completed her Bachelor of Music (Performance) with First Class Honours at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2021. Her honours thesis, on the development of the modern bassoon, was supervised by Dr. David Larkin. In 2023, Shelby commenced a Doctor of Musical Arts, once again at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Her thesis, focussing on the French-system bassoon and the historically informed performance of turn-of-the-twentieth-century French music, is expected to be submitted in 2027. During this time, Shelby was also learning from Doug Eyre, Principal Bassoon of the Opera Australia Orchestra.
Joshua Webster (oboe)
Joshua enjoyed success with numerous chamber music groups whilst competing in the NZCT Chamber Music Contest. His achievements in the competition include reaching the national finals and winning the KBB Music Festival Award for Best Woodwind Performance. Joshua completed his Bachelor of Music majoring on oboe at the University of Auckland in 2020. He has since played with numerous professional and semi-professional orchestras across New Zealand, such as the Auckland Philharmonia, Hawkes Bay Orchestra, and Opus Orchestra.

Helena Burns (viola)
Helena is a Brisbane-born violist undertaking her third year at ANAM She graduated with a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours (2021), and a Master of Philosophy (2025) from the University of Queensland. Helena enjoys performing as a chamber musician and is a founding member of Amiti String Quartet. The ensemble has been increasingly active on the Australian music scene in recent years and in 2026 will release recordings of works by emerging Australian composers including Abigail Lui’s The Colour of Time and Ollie Muller’s KINETIC.
Mattea Osenk (viola)
Born in Adelaide, Mattea began her musical journey at the age of seven. She completed a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours from the Elder Conservatorium of Music, University of Adelaide. Mattea is currently working on curating independent concerts that focus on conceptual themes and fusing multiple art forms. She particularly enjoys experimenting with composing and performing music for the singing violist.
Daniel Casey (viola)
Daniel is a passionate young violist in his second year of studies at ANAM in 2026. His musical journey began with a love for singing, performing as a chorister with the Young Voices of Melbourne and later the Australian Boys Choir. Daniel has performed with the AYO’s orchestral and chamber programs, Opera Queensland, Ensemble Q, and has participated in side-by-side projects with the MSO and Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
Heesoo Kim (cello)
Heesoo is a cellist from the Gold Coast, currently in her third year at ANAM. Chamber music is central to Heesoo’s artistic life. She received the Henderson’s Traveller’s Quartet Scholarship in 2022 and 2023, which supported a European tour and studies with leading chamber musicians. She is particularly passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration and hopes to continue contributing to projects that bring music into dialogue with other art forms.
