Spend your school holidays refining your skills, meeting like-minded peers, and getting to know one of Melbourne’s most exciting emerging artists. Create your own unique piece of wearable jewellery or embellish a favourite piece of clothing in this wearable fashions workshop.

Artist and Facilitator: Louise Meuwissen works in textiles, embroidery, sculpture and installation. Through labour intensive manipulation of recycled and found materials, she explores the tensions between luxury, consumption, beauty and the weight of adornment. Meuwissen graduated from painting at the Victorian Collage of the Arts in 2013, and has exhibited extensively in Australia and New Zealand. Recent projects have been presented at Heide Museum of Modern Art, Craft Victoria, Spring 1883 and Sydney Contemporary.

Meet: Information Desk, Ground Level. Please arrive promptly for 10.30am start.

Eat: There will be a 20 minute break for you to enjoy a lunch from home or purchase refreshments from Gallery Kitchen.

Wear: You may wish to wear clothing that is comfortable for art-making and easy to wash. Participants may wish to bring clothing or textile items they would like to embellish.
