Mexican Tatiana Bilbao is one of the most important architects working today. An advocate for architectural design that stimulates social change, Bilbao has brought a unique perspective to the history of the architectural profession and its future by creating work that is intellectually rigorous and visually dynamic.
Establishing her Mexico City-based practice Tatiana Bilbao Estudio in 2004, she is the first designer to be celebrated as part of the MECCA x NGV Women in Design Commission series. Coinciding with the world premiere of her large-scale installation for NGV, La ropa sucia se lava en casa (Dirty clothes are washed at home), bringing together architectural elements, up-cycled textiles and wall drawings, Bilbao joins us live at NGV where she shares the topics and ideas driving her architectural projects, followed by a Q&A with Gemma Savio, Curator of Contemporary Design and Architecture, NGV.
Includes a a glass of wine on arrival provided by Yering Station and an exclusive opportunity to view the installation from 5.30–6.15pm before it opens to the public.
The talk will take place from 6.30–7.30pm.
The commission of this work is made possible through the MECCA x NGV Women in Design Commission, which annually, over five years, invites a leading female designer or architect to produce a work for the NGV Collection.
