Visitors can take part in a drawing activity inspired by a playful display of Ku’ (camp dog) sculptures in Wurrdha Marra. Made by an intergenerational group of Aboriginal artists based in Aurukun on the west side of Cape York, Ku’ have a significant role in community and are connected to the Eeremangk Story – an important ancestral site located near the mouth of the Knox River. In Aurukun, Ku’ roam in packs, rest in the shade during the heat of the day, and in the evening seek out an owner to feed them leftovers.
Drop by and take part in this drawing activity to find out more about Ku’ and the artists who give these carvings so much personality.
