First achieving notoriety in 1975 when he deposited the carcass of ‘Beverly the cow’ in the NGV forecourt to make a statement about vegetarianism, Ivan Durrant is a leading proponent of photorealist painting as well as a sculptor, filmmaker, performance artist and writer.

Ivan Durrant: Barrier Draw traces the evolution of Durrant’s diverse artistic career, from his earliest folk paintings through to his evocative ‘soft-focus’ shed, football and racing paintings of the 1990s and 2000s.

We invite Members and guests to an exclusive Members Exhibition Introduction to learn about the key moments in Ivan Durrant’s long career with NGV curator David Hurlston.
