Hey teens, this one’s just for you! This winter enjoy an evening of art, music and creativity as you meet the artistic rebels, rule breakers and romantics of Paris, France like Monet, Renoir, Degas and more in major exhibition, French Impressionism from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Bring your friends for a night of dancing, hands-on art activities, talks about the artists and meet teens like you, who share a passion for art, being creative, and having fun.

Art Party is a teen exclusive event for secondary school students aged 12 to 18 years with a valid school ID. Please bring your secondary school ID or Victorian Student Pass on the night. If you don’t have either of these forms of ID, please contact us at programs@ngv.vic.gov.au

Feel the beat of DJ Rainbow Chan as she lights up the Great Hall with her electrifying mix of pop anthems.

 FASHION FLÂNEUR – FASHION ACTIVITY

Meet artist Louise Meuwissen in this drop-by making workshop. Get creative and make wearable art inspired by flamboyant French fashion.

 LES PETITES CARTES – POSTCARD ACTIVITY

Surround yourself in the French café atmosphere while you design your own postcard memento in Les Petites Cartes workshop.

 FRENCH IMPRESSIONISM EXHIBITION TOUR

Join fun and engaging floor talks, courtesy of the University of Melbourne, where you will learn more about the art behind French Impressionism and have an opportunity to ask questions with a PHD student.

 MES AMIS – FRENCH FRIENDSHIP SESSIONS

Friendship dating – but make it French! Make new friends and pick up some French phrases along the way. Led by Alliance Française de Melbourne, these drop-by sessions don’t require any French experience. Allez!

Be inspired by the dreamy and luminous brushstrokes of the Impressionists and customise your party look with a touch of shimmer and sparkle.

Capture your night with this photobooth activity and design a digital self-portrait that reflects your interests and personality inside Swiss-born, New York-based artist Olaf Breuning’s interactive exhibition, Plans for the Planet.

French Impressionism

Step back in time to 19th century France with your friends and explore the Melbourne Winter Masterpieces® exhibition, French Impressionism from The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Featuring groundbreaking art of its time by artists Monet, Renoir, Monet and more, the exhibition highlights these world-famous avant-garde artists at the center of this period of radical experimentation.

Kimono designs and Japanese style have inspired global art, design and fashion since Japan re-opened to the world in the mid nineteenth-century.

Explore traditional kimono worn by samurai and merchants, contemporary dress by innovators Issey Miyake and John Galliano, and bold Harajuku street fashions.

Art Party is your night to wear what makes you feel good. Dress up or down or be inspired by the vibrant world of French Impressionism.

 FOOD & DRINK

Food and drinks will be available to purchase from Gallery Kitchen, including low-gluten, vegan and vegetarian options. Free water stations are located in Gallery Kitchen and the Great Hall. This is a strictly alcohol and drug free event.
