Public Records is a discussion on the processes and politics of documenting Artist-Run activity in Australia. How are these, often ephemeral, practices recorded and what are the multifarious means by which such records are made public through publishing, exhibition, artworks, or discussion.

Speakers

Channon Goodwin is an artist and arts worker. He is the current Director of Bus Projects, and founding co-convener of All Conference, an organising network comprised of 17 artist-led, experimental and cross-disciplinary arts organisations from around Australia.

Melissa McGrath is a curator, writer and collaborator from Whadjuk Noongar boodja (Perth, Western Australia). She has worked in arts education, communication, installation and curation in Perth, Adelaide, Italy and America, focusing on projects at the intersection of contemporary and community practice. A passionate advocate for and participant in the artist-run sector, she is the current chairperson of Cool Change Contemporary a multi-gallery ARI in the Perth CBD and co-editor of Semaphore a weekly newsletter about art from WA.

Paul Andrew is an artist, curator and QUT doctoral research candidate. His current practice is a living archive collaboration about the hidden histories of Australian ARIs: the ARI Remix Living Archives & Social Memory Project.

David Mutch is an artist based in Melbourne, who along with Andrew Read, facilitated a year-long programme of exhibitions under the guise of DAVID.

Roberta Joy Rich is a Melbourne-based artist who’s work responds to constructions of ‘race’ and gender identity, sometimes with satire and humour in her video, performance, installation and multi-disciplinary projects.
