Picasso and his peers pioneered new forms of art and new creative methods, spearheading a number of important modern art movements in the twentieth century. Learn how innovation was at the core of Picasso’s practice,how experimentation helped pioneer new ways of making, and how this happened within the backdrop of enormous social change during the twentieth century.

Dr Stephen Haley is a painter and digital media artist with an extensive national and international exhibition history. He is the recipient of many prestigious awards and grants including: The Rupert Bunny Foundation Visual Arts Fellowship, 2016; the Australia Council for the Arts New Work Grant, 2009; the Australia Council Overseas Studio Residency ( LA 2006); an Arts Victoria Project Grant, 2012; the R & M McGivern Prize for Painting, 2006; the ANZ Visual Art Fellowship, 2004; and the Deacon, Graham and James/Arts21 Tokyo residency,1998. He holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne, 2015, is also a writer and a Senior Lecturer at the VCA/ University of Melbourne. His work features in numerous public institutions and private collections. Haley is represented by MARS Gallery, Melbourne; Lumas Galleries internationally; and Artitled Gallery in Amsterdam and Europe.
