The NGV Garden will come alive all summer as we celebrate the best of Melbourne music, food, bars and entertainment with expanded seating and picnic areas to enjoy. Grab a drink, a bite to eat and enjoy music every weekend from 12–5pm in the garden as NGV partners with Melbourne Music Week-Extended to present a line-up of local Melbourne musicians, bands and DJs on the Triennial Summer Stage.
12–1pm
Well-renowned on the Australian circuit as tastemakers of music and fashion with their distinct style and eclectic mixes, the sister DJs MAI prevail as a driving force in the exciting cultural shift we see today across the new generation of music not only in Australia, but worldwide. A fusion of Afrobeats, Afrohouse and Dancehall rhythms paired effortlessly with the hottest in hip-hop and grime is what you can expect in a MAI set.
1.30–2.15pm
The Merindas are the collective force of Ballardong Whadjuk and Nyoongar woman Kristel Kickett (from Tammin, WA) and Candice Lorrae of Jawoyn and Thursday Island heritage (born in Darwin, NT). Now based in Melbourne, these soul sisters are set to trail-blaze their innovative style of Indigenous music. They describe their unique sound as ‘electronic pop with a dance-hall feel, alongside hip hop and R&B influences.’
2.30–5pm
Musician, DJ, producer and booking agent Sullivan has been dedicated to carving out a more inclusive music culture in Australia. Sullivan’s career took off in 2005, as a founding member, vocalist and drummer of indie-rock band I Heart Hiroshima. As a solo musician and DJ, they have performed at Meredith Music Festival, Dark Mofo, Gegen and Berghain, and have performed alongside Peaches, Azealia Banks, planningtorock and Le1f.
