The Language of Colour: A Textile Journey
Presented by Yunuen Perez and Dr Antonio Gonzalez

Fortyfivedownstairs Gallery

Free entry

LAUNCH: Tue 20 Mar, 5pm

This exhibition of hand-woven tapestries explores traditional textiles as the inspiration to create new performative and cultural connections with the medium. Featuring a selection of new works by artist Yunuen Perez, curated by Antonio Gonzalez, the textiles reveal the hardship of the art form and the artist’s cultural and emotional engagement with the craft. This exhibition explores the influence that traditional textiles have on contemporary practice, in particular, how textiles can be as a cross-generational carrier of meanings and narratives that contribute to one’s understanding of societies and cultures.
