Garden Wall by Retallack Thompson and Other Architects, takes over the NGV Garden as the 2017 NGV Architecture Commission.

Comprising over 115 white walls clad in transparent woven mesh, the structure simultaneously hides and reveals aspects of the garden, outdoor sculptures and other visitors as audiences navigate the carefully-designed pathways.

Other Architects’ David Neustein and Grace Mortlock share the inspiration for the installation and how it explores the function, culture and symbolism of walls and fences as an architectural element in contemporary society with NGV curator Ewan McEoin.
