THANK YOU

Richard Estes Appeal

Thank you to our community for your support towards the acquisition of Urban landscapes I 1972 by respected American artist Richard Estes. Estes was one of the founders of the Photorealist movement and this series is the artist’s first and most collectable body of work. Comprising of eight richly coloured screenprints depicting various urban streetscapes in the early 1970s, this series wonderfully demonstrates the technical complexity and precision of Estes.

This was a rare opportunity to acquire the complete set by an artist synonymous with Photorealism, and also introduce an important American artist to the NGV Collection. We warmly acknowledge the below supporters for their generosity in enabling this acquisition to enter the NGV Collection.
