Time matters: Is temporary the new normal?
Presented by NH Architecture
Does the current trend for endlessly looking to create the ‘next new thing’ reveal that transience has become a mark of the contemporary city? Passing propositions, propagandas, pop-ups and pavilions are all transmitted via the limitless platform of social media and have become a daily reminder that design can fade as fast as a Snapchat image. Is the architecture of permanence just a distant memory?
Set in front of the 2016 NGV architectural commission, this contemporary condition will be interrogated and negotiated with a panel of architects hosted by Andrew Mackenzie from Uro Publications. He will be joined by Kåre Krokene (Snøhetta), Jeremy Mcleod (Breathe Architecture), Amy Muir (Muir Architecture) and Hamish Lyon (NH Architecture).
