Frame
Reproduction, 2003
The former framing of Landscape, Cremorne was an elongated frame derived from Louis XIV and Canaletto forms.
Similar frames are found on Corot, Sketch at Scheveningen (271-2) and Landscape Sketch (1316-3).
A new frame for the painting was commissioned in 2003 and makes use of recycled timber sections cut down to the present format.
Flat in profile, this timber frame has counterparts in a number of broad, flat frames from the 1880’s/90’s, using both gilded and stained timber.
