Physical description
The text is written in both Chinese and Manchu, in ink and colour on yellow, red, blue and black cloth woven with designs of dragons and white paper. The scroll was inscribed with the date of the reign of the Manchu emperor Xianfeng (r. 1851-1861) in Chinese characters in yellow ink on black cloth. According to the Chinese text, this imperial mandate is conferring a viscountcy on Enling 恩齢 who was a younger brother of the Empress.
