About this work
Representations of good, evil and everything in-between, mythical animals feature in folklore and religious stories throughout Asia. These characters are thought to possess protective powers and appear frequently as decoration in art, design and architecture. Included in the works on display are several depictions of Hindu and Buddhist deities produced in different regions of Asia.
